Friday, January 15

Saint Mary's 8 at Moncton 0 (Box Score)

The Saint Mary's Huskies travelled to Moncton on Friday to face the Moncton Aigles Bleus. The Huskies got on the board at the 12:08 mark in the opening frame with a tally from _ Stephen Jonston, to hold a one goal lead heading into the second. The Huskies came out strong in the second scoring three goals in just under four minutes, to take a 4-0 lead heading into the final frame. Huskies goals in the second came from third-year forward Stephen Shipley, third-year forward Stephen Beyers, and fourth-year forward Bradley Greene. The Huskies continued to dominate the Aigles Bleus throughout the third with an early goal just 21 seconds into the period from forward Stephen MacAulay, pushing their lead to five. Later in the third, a power-play tally from Huskies Ben Duffy, followed by two more goals from the sophomore forward for the hattrick, allowed Saint Mary's to cruise to an 8-0 victory over Moncton. In net for the Huskies was freshman goaltender Marc Terriault, stopping all 27 shots he faced, earning the shut-out.

UNB 2 at Dalhousie 0 (Box Score)

The Dalhousie Tigers hosted the UNB Varsity Reds at the Halifax Forum on Friday night. After a scoreless first and second period, the Varsity Reds opened the scoring late in the third with a tally from freshman forward Christopher Clapperton at the 14:46 mark. With just 25 seconds remaining in regulation, an empty-net goal from Varsity Reds third-year forward Dylan Willick secured the win for UNB, as they topped the Tigers 2-0 on the road. In net for the Varsity Reds was freshman goaltender Alex Dubeau, who stopped all 31 shots he faced, earning the shut-out.

UPEI 2 at StFX 5 (Box Score)

The UPEI Panthers travelled to Antigonish on Friday to take on the StFX X-Men. The X-Men were the first on the board with a tally from freshman forward Mark Tremaine at 03:37 into the opening frame. Later in the first, a goal from X-Men freshman forward Michael Clarke put StFX ahead by two heading into the second. Just over three minutes into the second period, a goal from StFX sophomore forward Brent Turnbull gave the X-Men the 3-0 edge. Just over five minutes later, the Panthers got on the board with a tally from fifth-year forward Cole MacMillan, cutting the X-Men's lead to two. At 11:17 in the middle frame, a short-handed goal from Panthers freshman forward Beni Berisha put UPEI within one. However, a short-handed tally from X-Men third-year defenceman Nathan Chiarlitti at the 17:24 mark of the second allowed StFX to regain their two goal lead to hold a 4-2 edge heading into the third. Just one minute into the final frame, a power-play goal from X-Men's Michael Clarke and his second of the game put StFX ahead by three, as they held on for the 5-2 victory.

Acadia 3 at St. Thomas 2 (Box Score)

The St. Thomas Tommies hosted the first-place Acadia Axemen in Fredericton on Friday evening. The Axemen got on the board early with a tally from forward Boston Leier just over two minutes into the opening frame. The Tommies answered back with a power-play goal from JC Campagna at the 7:09 mark, tying the game at 1-1 heading into the second period. At 02:59 into the second frame, a power-play goal from Acadia's Chance Braid, and the lone goal of the period allowed the Axemen to lead 2-1 heading into the final period of regulation. Another power-play goal for the Axemen from defenceman Geoff Schemitsch at 08:16 in the third gave Acadia the 3-1 edge. With just 1:26 left in regulation, the Tommies began looking for the come-back as a goal from sophomore forwardMatt MacLeod cut the Axemen's lead to one. However, the Tommies come-back efforts would not be enoough as the Axemen held on for a 3-2 victory on the road.

Acadia 3 at Moncton 4 (OT) (Box Score)

The Moncton Aigles Bleus hosted the first place Acadia Axemen on Saturday. The Aigles Bleus were the first on the board with a goal at 12:38 in the first period from sophomore forward Thierry Comtois. Just over a minute later, a goal from Moncton's Jean-Francois Plante put the Aigles Bleus ahead by two, as they took a 2-0 lead heading into the second. The Axemen got on the board at the 07:39 mark of the second, with a tally from fourth-year forward Travis Randell, to cut the Aigles Bleus lead to one heading into the final period in regulation. Just 30 seconds into the third frame, a goal from Moncton's Jean-Francois Plante and his second of the game put the Aigles Bleus ahead by two. At 15:22 in the third, a power-play goal from Acadia's Matthew Pufahi put the Axemen within one. Under a minute later, a goal from Acadia forward Boston Leier tied the game at 3-3, forcing the game into over-time. Just 01:42 into the extra frame, a goal from Moncton's Danny Chiasson gave the Aigles Bleus the 4-3 over-time victory.

Saint Mary's 6 at St. Thomas 3 (Box Score)

The Saint Mary's Huskies travelled to Fredericton on Saturday to take on the St. Thomas Tommies. The Huskies struck first with a goal just 1:16 in the first period from third-year defenceman Stephen Gillard. The Tommies tied things up at 09:47 in the first, with a tally from sophomore forward Matt MacLeod, however a goal just two minutes later from Huskies third-year forward Steven Beyers allowed the Huskies to regain their one goal lead heading into the second. The lone goal of the second came from Huskies fourth-year defenceman Kyle Pereira (PP) at the 16:01 mark, giving Saint Mary's a 3-1 edge heading into the final period. Just 36 seconds into the third, a goal from Huskies Mitchell Maynard put Saint Mary's ahead by three. However, two goals in 30 seconds from Tommies third-year forward Spencer MacDonald (PP) and sophomore forward Connor Sanvido put St. Thomas within one. At 04:55 in the third, a power-play tally from Huskies sophomore forward Ben Duffy gave Saint Mary's the 5-3 edge. With 35 seconds remaining in the game, an empty-net goal from Saint Mary's fifth-year forward Gerrad Grant gave the Huskies the 6-3 victory on the road.

UPEI 1 at Dalhousie 4 (Box Score)

The UPEI Panthers faced the Dalhousie Tigers at the Halifax Forum on Saturday night. After a scoreless first period, the Tigers were the first on the board with a power-play goal from freshman forward Phil Gadoury to hold a 1-0 lead heading into the third. Just 21 seconds into the third period, a tally from Dalhousie sophomore forward Mike Evelyn put the Tigers ahead by two. At the 05:58 mark, Dalhousie's Phil Gadoury netted his second of the night to give the Tigers the 3-0 edge. With just under three minutes remaining in regulation, the Panthers got on the board with a tally from defenceman Brock Beukeboom at 17:15 to cut the Tigers lead to two. With under two minutes remaining in regulation, Dalhousie's Phil Gadoury scored an empty-netter and his third of the night for the hattrick, giving the Tigers the 4-1 victory at home.

UNB 3 at StFX 2 (OT) (Box Score)

The StFX X-Men hosted the UNB Varsity Reds in Antigonish on Saturday. The X-Men were the first on the board with a tally from forward Holden Cook at 12:52, giving StFX the one goal lead. Under 30 seconds later, a goal from UNB's Francis Beauvillier tied the game at 1-1. Late in the first, StFX's Holden Cook scored his second of the night, allowing the X-Men to regain their one goal lead. However, just 14 seconds later, UNB's Tyler MacDougall tied the game at 2-2 heading into the second. After a scoreless second and third periods, a goal from UNB's Jordan Murray at 04:22 into the extra frame gave the Varsity Reds the 3-2 overtime victory.
