(MONCTON, N.B.) - The CIS No. 2-ranked Acadia Axemen continue to hold onto a four-point lead over the Saint Mary's Huskies in the AUS standings. Acadia dropped the Moncton Aigles Bleus 1-0 Sunday in Moncton in a game rescheduled from Satruday due to inclement weather.

Acadia out-shot the Aigles Bleus 12-11 in the opening period and both teams had several scoring opportunities.

Third-year forward and AUS leading goal scorer Brett Thompson netted his 17th goal of the season at the 13 minute mark of the second period. The 1-0 lead would hold on for the eventual win for the Axemen.

Second-year goaltender Brandon Glover was sharp on all 27 shots, recording his second shutout and 17th win of the regular season.

Moncton was out-shot 38-27 and only eight penalties were called in the rare Sunday afternoon game.

Brandon Thibeau held the Axemen to just one goal in a losing effort for the Aigles. Tibeau holds a 3.96 goals per game average while Glover is fourth in the AUS with a 2.30 goals per game average and a 0.911 save percentage.

The Axemen have two games remaining in the regular season, both scheduled for this coming weekend at home. Hoping to improve on a 19-4-3 record, Acadia will host Dalhousie on Friday and wrap up the regular season against StFX.

Moncton sits sixth in the AUS standings with a 10-14-2 record and will end the regular season in Fredericton, facing UNB on Friday followed by a Saturday game versus St. Thomas.
