Johnston nets two as Huskies top Tigers 3-2

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Dalhousie Tigers by a score of 3-2 Wednesday night at the Halifax Forum.

The game was played before a crowd of 538.

Subway player of the game Stephen Johnston (Guelph, Ont.) had two goals and Stephen MacAulay (Cole Harbour, N.S.) had the other to lead Saint Mary's offensive attack.

In nets for the Huskies, fourth-year Anthony Peters (Blyth, Ont.) made 25 saves to anchor the Huskies' defensive efforts.

The Huskies outshot the Tigers 35-27 in the contest. Johnston and MacAulay scored in the first period to give Saint Mary's a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

In the second, Dalhousie scored on a penalty shot to cut the Huskies lead to 2-1.

The third period saw Johnston score his second goal and then in the last second, the Tigers scored to make the final 3-2 for the Huskies.

Mike Evelyn (Ottawa, Ont.) scored the goal on the penalty shot and Alex Cote (Montreal, Que.) had the other marker for Dalhousie. 

For the Tigers, Corbin Boes (Saskatoon, Sask.) turned aside 32 shots in the loss.

The Huskies' next game is on Friday, Nov. 7 when they travel to Wolfville to face the Axemen at 7 p.m.

The Tigers are on their way to meet the St. Francis Xavier X-Men in Antigonish on Friday.
