Wilsons Security: Guard your home with the best defence!

Name: Nicole LaFleur
University: University of New Brunswick
Position: Guard
Year of eligibility: Second
Height: 5'9"
Hometown: Fredericton, N.B.
Academic Program: Nursing

Season overview: UNB's Nicole LaFleur may not have elite stats on the defensive end of the court, but make no mistake, she is as tough a defender as there is in the AUS. With 25 defensive rebounds, and seven steals in 12 games so far this season, Nicole is always assigned to cover the opposing team's leading scorer.

She has successfully held many of the leading scorers in the AUS to well below their season average in points scored. She is described by her coach as being tough, athletic and physical. She guards numerous positions and is not afraid to draw a charge. She is unselfish and does whatever it takes to help her team be successful.

Coaches' comments: "Nicole has really developed into our defensive stopper. Her work ethic on the defensive end is very impressive and she has really embraced the challenge of guarding the best scorers in the AUS. She guards wings and small forwards, it really does not matter. I love her intensity and respect how much defence means to her."

-Jeff Speedy, head coach, UNB Varsity Reds women's basketball
