AUS Track and Field Championships: Four AUS records fall on Day 1 of conference championships

(MONCTON, N.B.) - There were four AUS records set on Friday on the first day of the Atlantic University Sport Track and Field Championships at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud on the Moncton campus.   

Abbi Gaudry of the Dalhousie Tigers in the 60-metre dash in 8.80 seconds (formerly 8.86 seconds), Chloe Richardson of the Dalhousie Tigers in the women's 1000m in 2.52:32 (2.52:72 seconds); the Dalhousie Tigers 4X800m relay team with Zoe Fullarton, Aidan Macdonald, Waverley Mulligan and Chloe Richardson in 9:17.48 (9:17.61) and Samuel Bourque of the Aigles Bleus in the shot put with 17m01 (17m76).  

Max Mazerolle of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus won two gold medals - in the pole vault (4m) and the 60m hurdles (8.44s).

Samuel Bourque set a record and won the shot put with a throw of 17.01m. Moncton's Ghislain Girouard won silver in the 60m hurdles in 9.16 seconds. The silver medal was also won by Caroline Gagnon of the Aigles Bleues in the women's 60m hurdles (8.90s).  

In the team standings race, Dalhousie leads the men's competition with a total of 65 points. The UNB Reds are in second place with 36 points and the host Aigles Bleus are right behind wqith 33 points.

The women's standings are also led by Dalhousie (104), followed by UNB (41) and Memorial (28).

Competition continues Saturday at the same venue.
