Capers end season undefeated to finish atop AUS men's soccer standings

The Cape Breton Capers finished off their season with a 4-0 win over the Acadia Axemen Friday night to remain undefeated as they head into the AUS men's soccer championships next weekend.

The StFX X-Men earned a weekend sweep over the Memorial Sea-Hawks in St. John's, earning themselves a first round bye at the men's soccer championships. They blanked the Sea-Hawks 1-0 on Friday evening, and ended their stint in Newfoundland with a 4-1 victory on Saturday.

The UNB Reds finished third in the standings, after a huge 11-0 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday. Grant Takacs scored three goals to lead the Reds, earning Subway Player of the Game honours.

The UPEI Panthers finished their season with a 3-0 shutout win over the Saint Mary's Huskies, which put the Huskies playoff hopes on the line, as the loss meant that the winner between the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus and Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday would ultimately decide the Huskies' fate.

The Aigles Bleus earned a 5-1 win over the Tigers on Saturday, to clinch the final playoff position, and end the Huskies' season.

With the regular season now complete, the Capers, X-Men, Reds, Tigers, Axemen, and Aigles Bleus are now headed to the 2018 Subway AUS Men's Soccer Championship. The Championship will be hosted by Cape Breton University at CBU Field in Sydney, N.S from November 1-4. For more details, visit the 2018 Subway AUS Men's Soccer Championship page
