(ST. JOHN'S, NFLD.) - For the second day in a row, the Sea-Hawks defeated the visiting Moncton Aigles Bleus at King George V Park, sweeping the game 3-0 in men's AUS soccer action.

Rookie forward Kyle Williams took his first goal of the season and the first of the game in the 22nd minute. The goal was unassisted.

Opening the second half, defenseman Greg Reid netted Memorial's second goal in the 48th minute.

The Sea-Hawks were awarded a penalty kick in the 78th minute and captain Matthew Hamlyn didn't let it go to waste, giving Memorial a 3-0 lead.

The Aigles Bleus had four shots on goal, none of which passed Sea-Hawks keeper Andrew Anson.

The game was tightly contested with a number of challenges resulting in yellow cards. Moncton were handed two yellows while Memorial picked up three.

Memorial improved to 3-3-1 with the win, moving them into fourth place in the AUS. Moncton fell to 1-5-1 with the loss ranking them last.

Subway AUS player of the game was veteran defenceman Matthew Hamlyn for the winning team. The player of the game for Moncton was third year midfielder, Kouame Ali Martial Ouattara.

Memorial's assistant coach Mike Power was happy with the team's performance this weekend.

"The two wins represent a solid step forward for our boys and I felt we were full value for the six points," said Power. "After a little bit of a slow start to the season we are now hitting stride, scoring goals, and we're improving every game."

He added, "There is a lot of parity across the league so we'll need to keep working hard to maintain this stretch of good form and continue to build towards the playoffs."

The Sea-Hawks will travel to Nova Scotia next weekend for a game against Cape Breton (4-2-1) on Oct. 4 at 3:15 p.m.  and a second at StFX (2-3-2) on Oct. 5 at 2:15 p.m.

Moncton will host the UNB Varsity Reds Oct. 3 at 7:15 p.m.
