AUS Men's Basketball Weekly Round Up: Week 11

Thursday, Feb. 15

Dalhousie 85 vs. Acadia 65 (Box Score)
(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) In the third meeting of the season, the Dalhousie Tigers picked up a convincing 85-65 win against the host Acadia Axemen after losing the first two matchups in early November. Subway Player of the Game, Stammberger led the game with 23 points and nine rebounds. Alex Carson added 18 points and Xavier Ochu posted a game-high 10 rebounds. Axemen Nick De Palma, Ben Miller and Erik Nissen netted 11, 12 and 12 points respectively. Cape Breton 78 vs. Saint Mary's 95 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) Kemar Alleyne poured in 25 points and added seven rebounds on Friday night, in Saint Mary's 95-78 victory over the visiting Cape Breton University Capers in Atlantic university sport men's basketball from the Homburg Centre. Nico Brauner finished with 17 points for the Huskies, while teammate Nikita Kasongo had 15 in the win. Martin Campbell paced Cape Breton's offence with 21 points and added seven points in the Caper's loss. Read more: Recap

UPEI 56 vs. UNB 90 (Box Score)
(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The UNB Varsity Reds scored 55 second half points on route to a 90-56 win over the visiting UPEI Panthers on Friday night. Jesse Kendall led the Varsity Reds, scoring 16 points, going was 4-for-6 from three-point range. Milorad Sedlarevic led the Panthers with 13 points, while Samy Mohamed threw in 10 in the loss. Cape Breton 79 vs. Saint Mary's 86 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the visiting Cape Breton University Capers 86-79 on Saturday afternoon in Senior Day from the Homburg Centre in Atlantic university sport men's basketball action. Kemar Alleyne paced all scorers with 29 points for Saint Mary's as the 6-2 guard added 10 rebounds and five assists in the win and was named Subway Player of the Game. Kyle Hankins powered Cape Breton with 22 points and six rebounds in the loss while Osman Omar added 18 points. UPEI 56 vs. UNB 88 (Box Score)
(FREDERICTON, N.B.) The UNB Varsity Reds completed a weekend sweep of the UPEI Panthers, scoring an 88-56 win, on home court, Saturday. Javon Masters led all scorers with 24 points. Masters also had eight rebounds, earning Subway Player of the Game honours. Chris Spurrell came off the UNB bench to score 12, while Iba Doumbouya added 11. Milorad Sedlarevic led the Panthers with 18 points in the loss. Read more: Recap

Memorial 66 vs. StFX 90 (Box Score)
(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) In a battle for fifth place in the AUS conference, it was the StFX X-Men who came out on top, defeating the Memorial Sea-Hawks 90-66 Saturday night at the StFX Oland Centre. The X-Men were paced by fifth year veterans Kevin Bercy and Julius Antoine who scored 22 and 15 points, respectively. Davonte Provo earned Subway player of the game honours, contributing 14 points, along with a trio of rebounds and assists and two steals for the X-Men. Greg Manuel received player of the game honours for the Sea-Hawks as he finished with a double-double night of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Read more: Recap

Acadia 75 vs. Dalhousie 63 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) In their final home game of the season, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the Acadia Axemen in a battle for AUS standings. The Axemen combined lights-out shooting with tough defence in the first quarter and were able to hold a lead throughout to take the 75-63 win. For the Axemen, Ben Miller earned the Subway Player of the Game title, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists, going 3-4 from long range. Sven Stammberger led the way for the Tigers in his final home game with 18 points, six rebound and six assists. Read more: Recap  


Sunday, Feb. 18

Memorial 62 vs. StFX 92 (Box Score)
(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) The StFX X-Men defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks for the second time this weekend, playing to a 92-62 victory Sunday afternoon at the StFX Oland Centre. The X-Men used their entire line-up in the game and saw a 40-point contribution from the bench including Subway player of the game Nick Russell who scored 16 points. Justin Andrew had a big game for the X-Men as he was 6-for-8 from the three-point line, accounting for all of his 18 points on the afternoon. He also had six rebounds, six assists, a pair of steals and a block. Leading the Sea-Hawks was player of the game Daniel Gordon and Chris Dobbin off the bench who each scored 11. Read more: Recap
