No. 5-ranked Capers squeeze past Huskies to remain undefeated

(SYDNEY, N.S.) - The CIS No. 5-ranked Cape Breton Capers men's basketball team extended season-opening unbeaten streak to four games with a 90-86 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in AUS men's basketball action Friday night at Sullivan Field House in Sydney, N.S.

Up by just one point with a little over a minute remaining, the Capers turned to reigning AUS MVP Jimmy Dorsey. The fifth-year guard from Baltimore, MD., who leads the conference in scoring, delivered, draining a three-pointer and a deuce in back-to-back possessions as the Capers pulled away for the win.

Dorsey earned Subway player of the game honours for the Capers, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Freshman standout Shaquille Keith enjoyed another strong outing for the Capers, shooting better than 50 per cent from the field while scoring 23 points to go with seven boards.

Meshack Lufile added 16 points and Sean McCormick eight points and nine rebounds for the Capers, who improved to 4-0 on the year.

Jordan Lee had a game-high 28 points to lead the Huskies offence. Kevin Thomas with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Miguel Pink with 12 points were other top players for the Huskies.

The Capers will be back in action Saturday night when they host the Dalhousie Tigers in an 8 p.m. start at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
