Axewomen earn third straight victory while Tigers snap Huskies win-streak

In Week 3 of AUS women's volleyball action, the Acadia Axewomen earned their third-straight victory, while the Dalhousie Tigers handed the Saint Mary's Huskies their first loss of the season.

The Acadia Axewomen beat the Dalhousie Tigers 3-1 on Friday night at the Dalplex by scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-22 and 25-18. Jenna Lake came away with the player of the game for the Axewomen finishing with 12 kills, while Paris Stewart had 12 kills for Dalhousie in the loss. 

The Tigers bounced back on Sunday as Dalhousie outside hitter Talia Vydykhan led the Tigers with 15 kills and 11 digs in a come-from-behind three sets-to-one (14-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-21) victory over the U SPORTS #10 ranked Saint Mary's Huskies. Talia Vydykhan was named Player of the Game for Dalhousie for her efforts, while Kirsty Longino provided 28 assists and nine digs, and Calnan and Hartnett combined for 19 kills and seven blocks. Olivia Bell led the way for the Huskies with 14 kills and 15 digs, while Megan Bruhm contributed 10 kills and seven digs, and Taylor Lougheed dished out a match-high 32 assists.

The UNB Reds emerged victorious against the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues in a thrilling five-set match - 25-22, 21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12 on Sunday afternoon. Heather Benko led the way for UNB, notching 14 kills, 12 digs, and 3 service aces, while Meghan Vaags and Lydia Green added 10 kills each, and Jenna Adams contributed 33 digs in the 3-2 victory for the Reds. Kyana Sivret finished with 12 kills and Emily Robicuad had 28 digs in the loss for the Aigles Bleues.
