AUS Women's Volleyball Weekly Round Up: Week 8

Friday, Feb. 9

Memorial 1 vs. Acadia 3 (Box Score)
(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) The Axewomen volleyball team picked up a 3-1 match win against the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks in the first of a three-match weekend against the Sea-Hawks. Several Axewomen in double-digits with kills including a match-high 17 by first-year outside hitter Lucy Glen-Carter. Glen-Carter also had 16 digs. Libero Kailey Evans led the Axewomen with 30 digs. Daniella Trodel, who was named the Subway Player of the Match for the Axewomen, had 15 kills, two solo blocks, and two service aces. Senior Sarah Ross posted 13 kills and added 16 digs in her defensive effort. Catherine Ducey was named the Sea-Hawks' Player of the Match with six kills and five digs. Sarah Dawe posted a Memorial high of 9 kills and 11 points. Read more: Recap


Saturday, Feb. 10

Dalhousie 3 vs. Saint Mary's 0 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The U Sports No. 5 Dalhousie Tigers swept the host Saint Mary's Huskies 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-17) on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic university sport women's volleyball action from the Homburg Centre. Julie Moore paced Dal's offence with 13 kills, 34 total attacks and 14.0 points while Victoria Haworth added five kills, 10 total attacks and 12.5 points. Anna Watt had eight kills and 26 total attacks for SMU while Kristina Alder and Behany Smith each added seven kills. Memorial 0 vs. Acadia 3 (Box Score)
(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) The Axewomen grabbed a three-straight set win against the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks in the second of a three-match weekend against the Sea-Hawks. Subway Player of the Game, Lauryn Renzella, logged 10 kills with a hitting efficiency of 0.261 and added two service aces for the Axewomen. Contributions for the Acadia win came from Hannah Helm and  Sarah Ross with six kills each. Kailey Evans led the way on defense with 16 kills. Regan Herrington had a solid match with 22 sets. Catherine Ducey led the Sea-Hawks with four kills. UNB 2 vs. Moncton 3 (Box Score)
(MONCTON, N.B.) The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues scored a 3-2 over the UNB Varsity Reds on Saturday afternoon, in Moncton. The Aigles Bleues won with scores of 25-21, 27-25, 20-25, 24-26 and 15-12. Christelle Bertin was named Subway Player of the Game. She had 13 kills and 19 digs for Moncton. The Varsity Reds had four players with double figure kills, including Melika Belliveau, who had 13. Megan Kuciak had a match-high 21 digs for UNB, while Paige Lehto recorded 13. Read more: Recap 


Sunday, Feb. 11

Memorial 1 vs. Acadia 3 (Box Score)
(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) A 3-1 match win completed a weekend 3 match Axewomen sweep of the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks. Rookie outside hitter Lucy Glen-Carter led the Axewomen and match with 19 kills for 20 points. Graduating senior libero Kailey Evans posted a match-high 27 digs and fellow graduate Sarah Ross added 13 kills and 16 points to the Axewomen's win. Lauryn Renzella had 12 kills for a 0.310 hitting efficiency and included a 16 dig defensive effort. Memorial's Sarah Dawe had 14 kills with a 0.308 hitting efficiency and 23 digs. Teammate Kiersten Fey added 10 kills in the losing effort. Alison Poynter was named the Sea-Hawks Player of the Game with 37 assists. Read more: Recap  

Moncton 0 vs. Saint Mary's 3 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The Saint Mary's University women's volleyball team ended the weekend on the right foot with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-21) sweep over the visiting Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues on Sunday afternoon in Atlantic university sport volleyball action from the Homburg Centre. Fourth-year player Maddie Clarke paced all hitters with 11 kills, 13 digs and 13.5 total points in SMU's win. Pascale Doirin paced UdeM with nine kills, 29 attacks and nine total points in the Aigles Bleues loss. Émilie Landry finished with eight kills and 20 attacks for Moncton while Christelle Bertin added four kills. Read more: Recap
