Capers top X-Women 3-0

(SYDNEY, N.S.) - The defending champs are back in the playoff picture.

Needing a win to lock up a playoff berth, the defending AUS champion Cape Breton Capers turned in a stellar performance en route to a 3-0 victory over the StFX X-Women in AUS women's soccer action Wednesday in Sydney.

Karolyne Blain scored twice for the Capers, finding the back of the net in the fourth and 24th minutes. The 2013 AUS most valuable player, Blain now has 14 goals on the season, tying her own CBU single-season scoring record and giving her 41 goals for her career.

Paula Serracin wrapped up the scoring in the 88th minute with her first career goal as a Caper.

Tiffany O'Donnell picked up the win in the Capers goal with two saves. Erin Visser made six saves for the X-Women.

The Capers improved to 6-4-2 overall while the X-Women fall to 3-4-5.

CBU will wrap up regular season play this Sunday when they face the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in Charlottetown.

The X-Women will visit Dalhousie Saturday at 1 p.m.
