Capers defeat the Tigers 1-0 on the road

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - On a sunny Saturday afternoon at Wickwire Field, the Cape Breton Capers defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 1-0 in AUS women's soccer action. The Capers beat the Tigers for the second time this year, taking the season series 2-0.

The only goal of the match was scored by Karolyne Blain (Sudbury, Ont.) on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute. Blain notched her 10th goal of the season and is leading the AUS scoring race by five.

Dalhousie keeper Rachel Hunt (Halifax, N.S.) faced seven shots, stopping six of them. Her counterpart Tiffany O'Donnell recorded her second shutout of the season with four saves.

The Tigers best chance of the match came from Victoria Parkinson (Halifax, N.S.) when she rang a shot off the crossbar late in the second half.

Cape Breton (4-1-1) will take to the field again Sunday when they visit the StFX X-Women (2-2-2) for a 1 p.m. game.

The Tigers (3-3-1) next game is Saturday, Oct. 4 when they travel to the Université de Moncton (0-4-1) for a 3 p.m. game.
