AUS Women's Hockey Weekly Round Up: Week 13

Friday, Feb. 9

Dalhousie 2 vs. StFX 6 (Box Score)

(ANTIGONISH, N.S.) The U SPORTS No 4. ranked StFX X-Women clinched first place in the AUS standings with a 6-2 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers Friday night at the Charles V. Keating Centre. The X-Women exploded for six goals in the second period in the victory. Subway player of the game and first star Kristen McKinley and second star Patti-Anne Tracey each scored two goals for StFX. St. Thomas 3 vs. Moncton 4 (Box Score)

(MONCTON, N.B.) The Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues earned a 4-3 win at home over the St. Thomas Tommies Friday night. After a scoreless first period, Moncton's Sarah-Eve Mailhot opened the scoring early in the second period, with an unassisted goal just 37 seconds into the frame. A powerplay tally from St. Thomas' Emily Oleksuk tied the game at 1-1, until Moncton's Marie-Pier Corriveau gave the Aigles Bleues the go-ahead goal going into the final frame. Moncton's Katryne Villeneuve put the Aigles Bleues ahead by two in the third, until a tally from St. Thomas' Oleksuk kept the Tommies alive just over two minutes later. St. Thomas' Lauren Legault tied the game at 3-3 at the 12:39 mark of the third, until Moncton's Villeneuve scored her second of the game with just over two minutes remaining in regulation to give the Aigles Bleues the victory.


Saturday, Feb. 10


Moncton 1 vs. Saint Mary's 2 (2OT) (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The Saint Mary's Huskies finished the regular season on a high note with a 2-1 double-overtime win over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus. It was a defensive battle game, with a lot of board play and little room to make plays for either side. Kiana Wilkinson netted both goals for Saint Mary's, while Huskies goaltender Ashley Forler made 17-saves to stay undefeated in her first AUS season. Katryne Villeneuve scored the lone goal from Universite de Moncton, with goaltender Gabrielle Forget finishing with 32-saves, including a number of highlight reel stops at the end of the first overtime. Mount Allison 1 vs. St. Thomas 3 (Box Score)
Emily Oleksuk tallied three powerplay points to help snap the St. Thomas Tommies seven-game losing skid, powering them to a 3-1 win over the Mount Allison Mounties. The game marked the regular season finale for the Tommies, who locked down the third seed in AUS. They will face the UPEI Panthers in the first round of the playoffs. Along with two goals from Oleksuk, St. Thomas' Alex Woods added a tally for the Tommies, with Jessica Desautels adding the lone goal for the Mounties. Read more: Recap 

UPEI 5 vs. Dalhousie 2 (Box Score)
(HALIFX, N.S.) In the final game of the regular season, the Dalhousie Tigers hosted the UPEI Panthers in a battle for playoff seeding. The Tigers got off to a hot start, but the Panthers countered with five unanswered goals and came away with a 5-2 win. Goals from the Panthers came from Jessie Brown, Leah Byrne (PP), Rachel Colle, and Jenna Pellerin added a powerplay and short-handed goal in the victory. Dalhousie's Lisa MacLean and Taylor Carr-Babineau got on the board for the Tigers in the loss. Read more: Recap
