AUS Women's Hockey Weekly Round Up: Week 8

Friday, Jan. 5

UPEI 6 vs. Mount Allison 0 (Box Score)
(SACKVILLE, N.B.) The UPEI Panthers skated to a 6-0 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties in Sackville Friday evening. Emma Weatherbie opened the scoring for the Panthers just 1:45 into the opening frame, followed by a tally from teammate Rachel Colle to give UPEI a 2-0 lead heading into the second. A shorthanded goal from Leah Byrne just 20 seconds into the second put UPEI ahead by three, followed by Weatherbie's second goal of the game, giving the Panthers the 4-0 edge. Colle's second goal of the game in the third, followed by a tally from Maria Clinton sealed the deal for the Panthers.

StFX 6 vs. Moncton 2 (Box Score)
(MONCTON, N.B.) The U SPORTS No. 4 ranked StFX X-Women resumed their winning ways with a 6-2 victory over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues in the first game of 2018. Veteran fifth year captain Daley Oddy (Cranbrook, BC) scored two goals and added an assist as the Subway player of the game led the X-Women to a win on the road. Read more: Recap

 
Saturday, Jan. 6

StFX 5 vs. UPEI 3 (Box Score)
(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.) The X-Women scored four unanswered goals in the third period as they skated to a 5-3 victory over the UPEI Panthers Saturday afternoon. Down 3-1, the X-Women came out of the final intermission strong, tying the game in minutes on goals by Sarah Bujold and Patty-Anne Tracey. Bujold finished with two goals to lead her team. Alley Goodreau scored the game-winner at 17:59, all but sealing Saturday afternoon's come-from-behind victory. Read more: Recap

Dalhousie 2 vs. Moncton 4 (Box Score)
(MONCTON, N.B.) Janelle Graham scored twice, including the winner at the end of the second period to lead the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues to a 4-2 win over the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday. Read more: Recap

St. Thomas 2 vs. Mount Allison 1 (OT) (Box Score)
(SACKVILLE, N.B.) The St. Thomas Tommies earned a 2-1 overtime victory in Sackville Saturday. Becky Conner opened the scoring in the first period to give the Tommies a 1-0 lead heading into the second. At the 13:38 mark of the second frame, a tally from Mount Allison's Heather Richards put the Mounties on the board. After a scoreless third, things headed into overtime. A powerplay goal and her second of the game from Conner at the 4:31 mark of the extra frame allowed the Tommies to skate away with the victory.


Sunday, Jan. 7

Dalhousie 1 vs. Saint Mary's 5 (Box Score)
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The Saint Mary's Huskies earned a 5-1 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers Sunday afternoon. Just six seconds into the opening frame, Lisa MacLean put the Tigers on the board for the lone goal in the first. The Huskies came out strong in the second, scoring three goals in six minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Goals for the Huskies in the second came from Laura Horwood, Siobhan Birch, and Brooke Murphy. A powerplay goal from Horwood in the third, followed by an unassisted goal at the 15:27 mark allowed Horwood to finish the hattrick and lead the Huskies to victory.
