(HALIFAX, N.S.) - In a game that went the distance, Kara Power (New Glasgow, N.S.) had the only goal of the shootout as the St. Francis Xaiver X-Women defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 2-1 at Alumni Arena Wednesday night.

Power's big tally earned her Subway player of the game honours.

The two teams battled hard, but went scoreless in the first period. In the second, Saint Mary's struck first when Laura Polak (Bedford, N.S.) scored on the power play at 16:16, with assists from Jenelle Rogers (Marystown, N.L.) and Caitlyn Manning (Cambridge, Ont.), to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

The X-Women answered back at 19:26 when Taylor Dale (Oromocto, N.B.) tallied, with assists going to Jenna MacDonald (Osgoode, Ont.) and Heather Tillsley (Aurora, Ont.), to tie the game at 1-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Both teams were unable to put a goal on the board in the third period or overtime to send the game to a shootout.

The Huskies outshot the X-Women 41-31. Sojung Shin (Seoul, South Korea,) made 40 saves to get the win for the X-Women and Justine MacIntosh (East St. Paul, Man.) stopped 29 shots for the Huskies.
