WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Mason McGriskin (North Bay, ON/West Ferris S.S.) connected with Oliver Burnett (Fredericton, NB/Fredericton HS) for his AUS-leading 6th receiving touchdown of the year, this one a 56-yard catch and run at the end of the second quarter. That opened up the game and the Bishop's Gaiters beat the Acadia Axemen 22-10 on Saturday in Wolfville, N.S.

David Chaloux (Joliette, QC/Cégep régional de Lanaudière) led the ground attack with 98 yards on 14 carries.

Bishop's jumped out to an early advantage thanks to a safety, two Xavier Gervais (Ottawa, ON/Cégep de l'Outaouais) field goals and a rouge from punter Yani Gouadfel (Mitry-Mory, France/Cégep de Thetford).  The McGriskin-Burnett connection made it 16-0 at the break for the Gaiters.

Acadia found the end zone early in the third quarter to cut the lead to 16-7. Gervais tacked on another three points at the end of the stanza. In the fourth quarter Acadia's Thomas Veinot booted through a 46-yard field goal before Gervais responded with his fourth field goal of the contest to make the final 22-10.

McGriskin finished the day 14-24 for 191 yards and the major.  Gervais, who is also the second-string quarterback went 6-11 for 101 yards. The Gaiters out-gained Acadia 439 yards to 177 and Bishop's doubled up the Axemen recording 24 first downs compared to 12. Bishop's also controlled the ball for 13 minutes more in the contest.

Gervais finished 4-4 on field goals and connected on his lone extra-point attempt. Alex MacDonald (Eastern Passage, NS/Auburn Drive High School) led the Bishop's defense with five tackles, an interception and a pass breakup.

The win gives Bishop's a 5-2 record and clinches second place in the conference. They will host the Mount Allison Mounties (3-4) in the AUS Semifinal on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. on Coulter Field.
