Week 8 AUS Football Players of the Week: Fagnan, King and Hadley

(HALIFAX, N.S.) In week 8 of AUS football action, STFX's Silas Fagnan and Ben Hadley, along with Nick King from the Acadia Axemen, have been recognized for their outstanding play as the AUS football players of the week.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Silas Fagnan
University: St. Francis Xavier University
Position: Quarterback
Hometown: Bonnyville, Alta.

Height and weight: 6'2", 200lbs

STFX X-Men quarterback Silas Fagnan is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Oct. 15, 2023.

A human kinetics student in his third year of eligibility from Bonnyville, Alta., Fagnan threw four touchdown passes in the X-Men's 52-7 win over Mount Allison Saturday in Antigonish, N.S.

He was 18-30 for 301 passing yards and had three rushes for 25 yards in the game.

He currently leads the AUS in passing (averaging 246.1 yards per game), completions and attempts (119-199), total yards (1,723) and pass efficiency (149.1).

University: Acadia University
Position: Defensive lineman

Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: BBA
Height and weight: 6'0", 235lbs 

Acadia Axemen defensive lineman Nick King has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week for the week ending Oct. 15, 2023.

A senior business student in his third year of eligibility from Halifax, N.S., King had two sacks for losses totaling four yards in Acadia's 33-18 loss to the Saint Mary's Huskies Friday night in Halifax.

He had five solo tackles in all in the game.

Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: BBA
Height and weight: 6'2", 190lbs

STFX X-Men kicker Ben Hadley is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending Oct. 15, 2023.

A fourth-year business student from Halifax, N.S., Hadley scored 16 points in the X-Men's 52-7 win over Mount Allison Saturday, kicking two field goals—both from 32 yards out—and making good on all six of his extra point attempts.

He also had four rouges in the win and his stats also included six kickoffs for 400 yards, averaging 66.7 yards per kick.

Hadley currently boasts a league-leading 81% field goal average. He also leads the conference in scoring with 109 points on the season, averaging 15.6 points per game for the U SPORTS no. 5-ranked and undefeated 7-0 AUS first-place X-Men.
