(WOLFVILLE, N.S.) The Mount Allison Mounties visited the Acadia Axemen in Wolfville Saturday night, where the visitors earned a 17-9 victory.

Mount Allison led 7-0 after the opening quarter, with their lead shrinking to 7-2 at halftime. Heading into the final quarter they led 14-2, before Acadia started their comeback offensively.

Acadia opened the AUS season with a win over the Mounties, who got revenge in their second meeting of the year led by Justin Vogels going 11-for-17 for 168 yards with one TD and a game-high throw of 46 yards.

Brandt Burzuk was key for the Mounties success on the ground, running for 149 yards, averaging 4.8 yards per run, and going for the longest run of 24 yards.

In the air, James Laceby had a game-high 80 yards, while pulling in a TD in his five receptions. Nolan Cheeseman had only three receptions but put them to good use as he averaged 22.7 yards per catch for 68 yards and a game-high 46-yard reception.

Offensively for the Axemen, they looked at three different quarterbacks to get things going. Dante Tabacu scored the only Acadia touchdown of the game, taking it in on his own as part of 34 rushing yards. In the air, he threw for 53 yards.

Andrew Rees had two receptions for Acadia for 25 yards to lead the Axemen.

Next weekend Acadia travels to Antigonish to face STFX, while Mount Allison has a bye. Bishop's will be in Halifax on Saturday to face Saint Mary's.
