Week 10 AUS Football Players of the Week: Wright, Whyte and Rennick honoured

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Dale Wright
University: Acadia University
Position: Running back
Hometown: Markham, Ont.

Acadia Axemen running back Dale Wright is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Oct. 28, 2018.

A senior business student in his third year of eligibility from Markham, Ont., Wright rushed for 182 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns in Acadia's 31-2 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in Wolfville, N.S. Saturday.

The reigning AUS MVP, Wright finishes the 2018 regular season first in rushing touchdowns with seven on the season.

StFX X-Men linebacker Gordon Whyte has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week.

A fourth-year business student from Toronto, Ont., Whyte led all tacklers in StFX's 38-15 win over Mount Allison on Saturday.

He had seven tackles in the game, including four solo tackles—and two of those were tackles for a loss of yards.

Whyte finished the season third overall in the AUS with 51 tackles (34 solo, 34 assisted), averaging 6.4 tackles/game.

Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: BA
Height and weight: 5'5", 160lbs

Acadia Axemen returner Blake Rennick is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending Oct. 28, 2018.

A fourth-year arts student from Ottawa, Ont., Rennick had ten punt returns for 113 total punt return yards in Acadia's 31-2 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies Saturday in Wolfville, N.S.

The Axemen now advance to the Subway AUS Football Semifinal being hosted by the StFX X-Men Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m.

The winner of the AUS semifinal will face the first-place Saint Mary's Huskies in the Subway AUS Loney Bowl Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at Huskies Stadium.
