Week 6 AUS Football Players of the Week: Scott, Halstead and Hope honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Saint Mary's quarterback Kaleb Scott and kicker/punter Brian Hope, along with Mount Allison linebacker Damian Halstead, have been selected as the Week 6 AUS football players of the week for their respective performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Kaleb Scott
University: Saint Mary's University

Saint Mary's Huskies quarterback Kaleb Scott is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Sept. 30, 2018.

A third-year sociology student from Mount Albert, Ont., Scott had two passing touchdowns in Saint Mary's 27-24 win over the StFX X-Men Saturday in Antigonish, N.S.

Scott had 323 passing yards, along with 10 carries and 108 rushing yards. He was named Subway Player of the Game.

He currently leads the Atlantic conference in passing yards (1,270 in five games played) and yards per game (254.0).

Mount Allison Mounties linebacker Damian Halstead is the AUS football defensive player of the week.

A sociology student in his fourth year of eligibility from Brampton, Ont., Halstead led the Mounties defence in their 18-10 win over the Bishop's Gaiters Saturday in Lennoxville, Que.

He had 9.5 total tackles in the win (eight solo and three assisted), including a sack for a loss of seven yards.

Saint Mary's Huskies punter and kicker Brian Hope is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending Sept. 30, 2018.

A third-year arts student from Port Coquitlam, B.C., Hope had nine points in the Huskies 27-24 win over StFX Saturday.

He was successful both of his field goal attempts and all three point-after attempts. He also had five punts for 185 yards and five kickoffs for 242 yards.
