Week 2 AUS Football Players of the Week: Berglund, Forde and Hope honoured

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Brock Berglund
University: Saint Mary's University
Position: Quarterback

Quarterback Brock Berglund of the Saint Mary's Huskies is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Sept. 18, 2016.

A first-year MBA student in his fourth year of eligibility, Berglund led the Huskies to a 32-27 come-from-behind victory Friday night over the Mount Allison Mounties in Halifax. The win broke an 18-game losing streak for Saint Mary's, marking their first regular season victory since Oct. 26, 2013.

Berglund threw 23 completions on 37 attempts for 271 yards and two touchdowns in the win. He threw no interceptions.

He also led the Huskies in rushing with 98 yards on 16 carries.

Defensive lineman Kyle Forde of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport football defensive player of the week.

A third-year arts student from Ajax, Ont., Forde led the X-Men in tackles in their 37-8 win over Acadia on Saturday in Antigonish, N.S.

He had 7.5 tackles (six solo and three assisted) which included 5.5 tackles for losses of 18 total yards. These also included 4.5 sacks—placing Forde second in the AUS all-time record book for sacks in a single game.

Academic program: Criminology
Height and weight: 6'1", 182lbs

Saint Mary's Huskies kicker Brian Hope has been named the AUS football special teams player of the week.

Hope made good on five of six field goal attempts in the Huskies' 32-27 win over the Mounties Friday night in Halifax. He was also successful on his lone point-after attempt—bringing his total point tally to 16.  

Hope's five field goals place him in a tie for third in the AUS record books for most field goals made by an individual in a single game.

His stats on special teams also included punting an average of 34.8 yards on 10 punts—three of which were downed inside the 20-yard line. Hope also had two kickoffs for 115 total yards.

On offence, his stats included one carry for 17 yards.
