Reagan Crowell of the Dalhousie University Tigers women’s swimming team is the Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 21, 2024.
Crowell, from Lakeville, N.B., dominated the UNB Invitational Swim Meet this past weekend, picking up wins in the 50-metre, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle events while also recording the fastest female split time in the mixed relay.
Her weekend ended with another win, this time in the 50m freestyle eliminator event.
The fifth-year Psychology student has touched the wall first in all 16 races she has entered this season.

University: Saint Mary’s University
Sport: Men’s Basketball
Position: Guard
Hometown: East Preston, N.S.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: Commerce
Jayrell Diggs of the SMU Huskies men’s basketball team is the Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 21, 2024.
Diggs, a Commerce student, helped his Huskies to a pair of wins over the visiting Cape Breton University Capers this past weekend, scoring a combined 49 points along the way.
On Friday, the third-year guard from East Preston, N.S., scored 17 points and added six rebounds, three steals and two assists as his Huskies defeated the Capers 96-91.
One night later, Diggs scored 17 in the fourth quarter alone en route to a 32-point performance that aided his team’s 91-87 come-from-behind victory. He added three rebounds and two assists.
Diggs is second in the AUS in three-point shots made (39) and sixth in points scored (253).
