Name: Sydney Oitomen
University: UNB
Sport: Women’s Hockey
Position: Forward

Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: Kinesiology
Sydney Oitomen of the UNB Reds women’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 3, 2024.
The third-year forward helped her Reds end one series and begin another with victories this past week.
On Monday, the Kinesiology student scored the game-tying goal and then assisted on the game-winner, as UNB finished off their AUS women’s hockey semifinal series against the St. Mary’s Huskies.
Later in the week, Oitomen played a role in her team’s championship final series opening 2-0 win over STFX on Sunday, winning 11 of 16 face-offs and recording an assist on what turned out to be the game-winning goal to give her team a 1-0 series lead heading into Game 2 tonight.

Samuel Richard of the UNB Reds men’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 3, 2024.
The Arts student from Ste. Catherine, Que., stopped 24 of 25 shots on Saturday night to help his Reds take Game 1 of their best-of-three AUS men’s hockey championship series against the Moncton Aigles Bleus.
After giving up a goal on the very first shot he faced just 1:58 into the first period, the second-year netminder shut the door for the remainder of the game to help his team to victory.
Game 2 of the series is set for tonight (Tuesday, March 5) with the Reds travelling to Moncton to try and clinch their sixth-straight AUS title.
