Cape Breton's Ally Rowe and UNB's Luke Rosettani named AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Ally Rowe from the Cape Breton Capers women's soccer team and Luke Rosettani from the UNB REDS men's soccer team have been named the AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Ally Rowe of the Cape Breton Capers women’s soccer team the Atlantic University Sport women’s athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 24, 2023.

A fourth-year arts student from Kitchener, Ont., Rowe was named Player of the Game in both of Cape Breton’s wins this past weekend.

She scored two goals and added an assist in the Capers’ 3-0 win over the Acadia Axewomen on Saturday.

Sunday, she netted all four of Cape Breton’s goals as they defeated the Saint Mary’s Huskies 4-0.

Rowe currently leads the conference and the country in both goals (with 11) and points (with 13).

With her Sunday performance, she is also now tied for second in the AUS record book for goals scored in a single game.

Luke Rosettani of the UNB REDS men’s soccer team is the Atlantic University Sport men’s athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 24, 2023.

A fourth-year forward from Kanata, Ont., Rosettani helped lead the REDS to three wins this past week, earning Player of the Game honours in two of them.

He scored both UNB goals in the REDS’ 2-1 win over UPEI Wednesday at home. He then had three shots on goal in the REDS’ 2-1 home win over Moncton.

He was named player of the game for the second time in a week on Sunday with a goal and an assist on the game-winning goal as UNB defeated UPEI 2-1 in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
