Amanda Smith of the St. Francis Xavier X-Women soccer team is the Atlantic University Sport women’s athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 22, 2023.
A second-year BEd student in her fifth year of eligibility from Ottawa, Ont., Smith was named Player of the Game in two X-Women shutout wins this weekend, scoring six goals and adding three assists.
In Friday’s 8-0 win over Moncton, she scored four goals and had three assists. She followed up by scoring both X-Women goals in Saturday’s 2-0 win over UNB, leading the U SPORTS no. 5-ranked STFX to a perfect 12-0-0 undefeated season atop the AUS conference.
Smith finishes the regular season tied for first in AUS scoring (28), second in goals (22) and moved to third overall in AUS career goals scored with 50.

A civil engineering student from Drummondville, Que., Adam led Moncton to two weekend road wins between the pipes for the Aigles Bleus.
He made 32 saves Friday in Moncton’s 5-2 over the Saint Mary’s Huskies in Halifax.
Saturday, he stopped 30 shots and was named the game’s first star in a 3-1 win over the Acadia Axemen in Wolfville, N.S.
