UPEI's Emily Duffy and Saint Mary's Thomas Casey named AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Emily Duffy from the UPEI Panthers women's rugby team and Thomas Casey from the Saint Mary's Huskies men's hockey team have been named the AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Emily Duffy of the UPEI Panthers women’s rugby team is the Atlantic University Sport women’s athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 8, 2023.

A fourth-year prop from Saint John, N.B., Duffy powered her way to two tries in a hard-fought 31-29 win over the Acadia Axewomen Friday night in Wolfville, N.S.

She was named player of the game in the win which saw the Panthers secure a home playoff game in this year’s postseason.

Thomas Casey of the Saint Mary’s Huskies men’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport men’s athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 8, 2023.

Casey opened the season with five points in two wins for the Huskies. In Friday night’s 8-1 win over Dalhousie, he scored a goal and added three assists.  

In Saturday’s 8-3 win over STFX, he scored a short-handed goal.

Through two games, Casey sits tied for first in AUS scoring with Huskies linemate Declan McDonnell.
