(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Cape Breton Capers women's soccer striker Keona Simmonds and Memorial Sea-Hawks men's soccer striker Tyler Kirby have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

A fourth-year arts student from Brampton, Ont., Simmonds scored the first two goals of the game and assisted on the third in Cape Breton’s 6-0 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies Saturday in Sydney, N.S.
She was named Subway Player of the Game for her efforts.

Tyler Kirby of the Memorial Sea-Hawks men’s soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 10, 2017.
A fourth-year business student in his second year of eligibility, Kirby scored four goals and added an assist in two weekend wins for the Sea-Hawks.
In the home opener Saturday, he scored Memorial’s third and fourth goals as they topped the Mount Allison Mounties 4-1. He was named Subway Player of the Game.
Sunday, Kirby assisted on the second goal of the game and scored both the fourth and fifth Memorial goals en route to an 8-0 win over the Mounties.
After one weekend of play, he leads the AUS conference in goals (with four) and in points (with five).
