(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Dalhousie Tigers women's volleyball libero Marisa Mota and UNB Varsity Reds men's hockey forward Phlippe Maillet have been named the Subway AUS Athletes of the Week for their respective performances for this past week.

Marisa Mota of the Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending March 19, 2017.
A fifth-year arts student from Kitchener, Ont., Mota led the Tigers to a fifth-place finish at the U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball championship hosted by Ryerson University this past weekend in Toronto.
In Friday’s quarter-final against l’Université de Montréal, she had 11 digs in the Tigers 3-0 loss and was named player of the match for her efforts.
She was tough on defence again on Saturday, earning 16 digs to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 victory over the host Ryerson Rams in the second consolation semifinal.
The Tigers earned a fifth-place finish on Sunday, defeating the Western Mustangs 3-0. Mota, a second team all-Canadian, had 13 digs in the match.

Philippe Maillet of the UNB Varsity Reds men’s hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending March 19, 2017.
A fourth-year business student from Terrebonne, Que., Maillet was named the championship MVP following the 2017 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup held this past weekend in Fredericton, N.B.
The Varsity Reds topped the Queen’s Gaels 5-1 in the quarterfinals Thursday night. Maillet was named the Adidas Player of the Game after scoring a hat trick and adding an assist.
Saturday, UNB downed the Acadia Axemen 3-0 in the semi-final round. Maillet had a goal and an assist in the win.
On championship Sunday, the Varsity Reds claimed their second consecutive national title with a 5-3 win over Saskatchewan. Maillet had four assists on four goals by teammate Cam Braes.
In addition to championship MVP nods, Maillet was also named to a tournament all-star. At Wednesday night’s awards gala, he earned the Senator Joseph A. Sullivan Trophy as U SPORTS Player of the Year.
