(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Cape Breton Capers 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-22) on Sunday afternoon at the Homburg Center in Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball action.
Subway Player of the Game second-year Olivia Henderson (Whitby, Ont.) led the Huskies to victory as they improve to 2-2 in early conference play while the Capers drop to 0-7.
The youthful Capers pushed the Huskies in the second and third sets but couldn't hold off a Saint Mary's charge. Saint Mary's battled back from a 16-13 deficit in the second and a 19-13 Capers lead in the third to sweep the match.
The Capers will head back to Sydney and prepare for Quebec Interlock action coming up in Sherbrooke two weeks from now.
The Huskies homestand continues next weekend when they host the UNB Varsity Reds on Friday night at 7 p.m. and the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues at 2 on Saturday afternoon.
