(MONCTON, N.B.) The Dalhousie Tigers claimed both the men's and women's championship banners at the 2018 Subway AUS Track and Field Championships hosted by the Université de Moncton at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud gym on campus this weekend.
The Tigers' women's team finished with 144.5 points to claim their 29thconsecutive championship banner. The StFX X-Women team came in second with 99 points and the host Moncton Aigles Bleues team claimed third with 57 points.
The Dalhousie men's squad earned 153 points and their 16th championship banner in 17 years.
The Tigers' 12-year streak was broken by the StFX X-Men in the 2013-14 season. But the Tigers have found themselves back on top again these past four seasons.
This year, the UNB Varsity Reds claimed second place with 83 points and the StFX X-Men finished third with 73 points.
The host Aigles Bleus' men's team finished in fourth place.
Dalhousie's Audley Cummings and Michelle Reddy were named the Subway AUS male and female athletes of the meet. Both amassed multiple medals over the course of the weekend, with Cummings winning the heptathlon with 4,414 points.
Angus Rawling from the StFX X-Men and Bailey Smith from the UPEI Panthers were named the AUS male and female track athletes of the year.
In addition to being named athlete of the meet, Dalhousie's Cummings was also named the AUS male field athlete of the year, while Dalhousie's Lorena Heubach earned the honour on the women's side.
Heubach was also named the AUS rookie of the meet after winning the pentathlon with 3,924 points. Saint Mary's Andrew Peverill was named the male AUS rookie of the meet.
Beth Lawrence from the StFX X-Women and Michael Colford from the UNB Varsity Reds were this year's recipients of the AUS student-athlete community service awards.
Dalhousie's Rich Lehman received both the AUS men's and women's track and field coach of the year awards.
The Moncton Aigles Bleus' Earl Church and Dalhousie's Mike Bawol were named the AUS volunteer coaches of the year.
This year's U SPORTS Track and Field Championships are being hosted by the University of Windsor, March 8-10.
