Huskies top visiting Panthers 3-2 in OT

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - In a game that went to OT, the Huskies defeated the visiting Panthers 3-2 at Alumni Arena on Friday evening.

Subway player of the game Nicole Blanche (Dunville, Nfld.) scored the overtime winner for the Huskies.

Mary Worndl (Kitchener, Ont.) and Laura Polak (Bedford, N.S.) each had a goal and an assist to lead the Saint Mary's offence.

Rebecca Weagle (Lunenburg, N.S.) made 28 saves to power the Huskies defence in the contest.

The Huskies outshot the Panthers 44-30. Worndl and Polak both scored to give Saint Mary's a 2-0 lead after the first period.

In the second, UPEI scored to make it 2-1 after 40 minutes. The Panthers scored again in the third to tie the game and at two a piece and force overtime.

Keirstin Visser (Crapaud, P.E.I.) and Emma Martin (Winsloe, P.E.I.) had the goals for the Panthers.

Megan Sullivan (Bathurst, N.B.) stopped 41 shots in net for UPEI.

The Huskies' next game is on Sunday, Nov. 9 against the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues at 2 p.m. at Alumni Arena and he Panthers host the Moncton Aigles Bleues on Nov. 14 in Charlottetown.
