(MONCTON, N.B.) - Marie-Pier Arsenault scored two goals to lead the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (7-8-1) to a 4-1 win over the St. Thomas University Tommies (6-6-4) in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game played Saturday afternoon at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

This was the third straight victory for the Aigles Bleues since the beginning of the second semester, all wins against the top three teams in the AUS. Moncton is only one point behind the Tommies in third. They have lost their last three games.

Marie-Pier Arsenault from Roxanne Turcotte, in the first, followed by Catherine Dumas from Turcotte and Félicia Anctil  from Kaitlyn Gallaway, in the second, made it 3-0 after 40 minutes of play. Arsenault scored her second of the game in the third period assisted by Natacha Bergeron.

The Tommies' Caley Stewart was able to ruin Gabrielle Forget's quest for a shutout with six minutes left to play in the game.

Forget  had 19 shots in the victory and Kristin Wolfe, 26 in the loss. Moncton was 0-for-1 on the power-play while the Tommies were 0-for-3.

"This was a third straight nice win," said Moncton head coach Denis Ross. "The offensive line did its job with three of the four goals. The defensive units also worked well with nice passes and also blocking a number of pucks in front of the net. The goaltender made the saves when needed. We played well in front of the opposing net and we had good puck control."

The Aigles next take to the ice Friday, Jan. 17 when they visit the UPEI Panthers. The Tommies host the Dalhousie Tigers that same night. Puck drop in both games is set for 7 p.m.
