No. 2-ranked Huskies defeat Capers for 12th straight win

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The CIS No. 2-ranked Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Cape Breton Capers 83-67 Friday night in Atlantic University Sport women's basketball action at The Homburg Centre in Halifax.

Subway Player of the Game Laura Langille (2nd year, Bedford, N.S.) scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to keep the first place Huskies undefeated in conference play this season at 12-0. 

CIS scoring leader and reigning AUS and CIS Female Athete of the Week Justine Colley (4th year, North Preston, N.S.) had 19 points and 5 assists for Saint Mary's while Naomie Fequiere (4th year, Miami, FL.) added 16 points.

The Huskies outscored the Capers 20-10 in the second quarter to take a commanding 48-34 lead at the half.

Tanira McClurkin (4th year, Baltimore, MD) scored 24 points to lead the Capers (3-10, sixth place) in a losing effort and Brittany Hollins (4th year, Capitol Heights, MD) chipped in with eleven.

The Capers will stay in Halifax and prepare to visit Dalplex on Saturday night to play the Dalhousie Tigers.
