Capers fall 70-59 to Tigers, lose third in a row

(SYDNEY, N.S.) - The Cape Breton Capers women's basketball team dropped their third consecutive game, falling to the visiting Dalhousie Tigers 70-59 Saturday at the Sullivan Fieldhouse in Sydney.

Tanira McClurkin had 21 points for the Capers, who fell to 1-4 on the season.

Colleen Keane with 12 points and five rebounds and Brittany Hollins with 11 points were other top scorers for the Capers, who shot just 29 per cent from the floor in the game.

Tessa Stammberger led the Tigers with 25 points and nine rebounds.

Anna Von Maltzahn added 12 points and eight rebounds while Robbi Daley and Keisha Brown chipped in with nine and eight points respectively for the winners.

The Tigers will play next when they take on the No. 4-ranked Saint Mary's Huskies on Wednesday in Halifax. The Capers head to Fredericton next weekend to play back-to-back games with the UNB Varsity Reds prior to the Holiday break.
