
Jacob Benoit of Dalhousie took home first place at the first race of the 2024 season, winning the men's 8k race at the 2024 Acadia Invitational at Hennigar's Farm on Saturday, clocking in at 26:54.
UNB's Silas Conlin-Morse finished second with a time of 26:58, followed by St. Francis Xavier's Liam McCullagh in third at 27:09.
In the team standings, StFX was able to claim first place with 25 points.
McCullagh was backed by teammates Joel Gallant (27:12), Griffin Gamble (27:16), Liam Patterson (27:23) and Brett King (27:23). Their collective effort resulted in a total time of 2:16:23, with an average time of 27:16 per runner.
The Dalhousie Tigers finished second with 47 points, led by Benoit's first-place finish.
Aidan Goslett (27:32), Isaac MacLean (27:52), Ben Mundle (28:12) and Alex Rogers (28:17) rounded out the top five for the Tigers, who posted a total time of 2:18:47, averaging 27:45 per runner.
UNB placed third with 89 points, with Conlin-Morse leading the way.
Other top runners for UNB included Caden Jones (28:35), Sadiq Shahid (29:48), Ian Young (30:06) and Sam Andrew (30:32). UNB finished with a total time of 2:25:59, averaging 29:11 per runner.
StFX's depth, with five runners in the top seven, secured the team victory.
The X-Men host the next meet on the AUS invitational schedule on September 21.
