Dalhousie set to host 2018 Subway AUS Cross Country Championships

(HALIFAX, N.S.) The 2018 Subway AUS Cross Country Championships are being hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers this Saturday, Oct. 27 at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, N.S.

The women's race will see runners compete from the Dalhousie Tigers, the Acadia Axewomen, the Moncton Aigles Bleues, the StFX X-Women, the St. Thomas Tommies, the UNB Varsity Reds, the UPEI Panthers, the Memorial Sea-Hawks and the Saint Mary's Huskies.

On the men's side, Dalhousie, StFX, Moncton, St. Thomas, UNB, UPEI, Memorial and Saint Mary's will be represented.

The women's 8km race will begin at noon and the men's 10km race will start at 12:45 p.m.

An awards luncheon for participants will follow at the Four Points by Sheraton in Halifax from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The top seven finishers of each race will be honoured as 2018 AUS all-stars. The major award winners will also be announced including the athletes of the year, rookies of the year, student-athlete community service award recipients, and coaches of the year.

The championship trophies and banners will also be presented to the winning teams.

On the women's side, the host Dalhousie Tigers will look to defend their streak, having won the last five AUS titles.

The Dalhousie men will also look to repeat as champions. Last season, they claimed the AUS banner, ending a six-year StFX X-Men win streak.
