X-Men clinch playoff position with win over Aigles Bleus

The StFX X-Men extend their record to 7-1-1 on the AUS men's soccer season with a 3-1 win over the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus, allowing them to clinch a playoff position.

With just two games on the docket this past week, the X-Men visited the Aigles Bleus Thursday evening. Lewis Dye opened the scoring for StFX in the 54th minute, followed by a goal from teammate Ben Herringer just four minutes later. At 62:41 Jean-Michel Dako put Moncton on the board, but it would not be enough as StFX's Dan Hayfield sealed the deal with a tally in the 74th minute for the X-Men to hold on for the victory.

On Wednesday evening, the Acadia Axemen defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 3-2 on Wickwire Field in Halifax. The Axemen took off to an early lead with Alec MacKenzie and Gordon McLaughlin finding the back of the net to put them up by two. Jacob Bolton cut Acadia's lead in half at the 43 minute mark of the match, until Acadia's Cedric Gravel found the back of the net to put them ahead 3-1 at 48:00. Dalhousie's Emilio Roche scored a tally at the 68 minute mark but Acadia held on for the 3-2 win.

Although they did not have a game this week, the Cape Breton Capers also clinched a playoff position as they sit in first in the league with a 7-0-1 record.
