Sea-Hawks extend win streak to four

In Week 4 of the men's basketball season, the Memorial Sea-Hawks picked up four points with a pair of wins over the Acadia Axemen, extending their winning streak to four.

The Sea-Hawks chipped away at Acadia's lead on Friday night and eventually completed the comeback to win 85-78. Trailing by four points at halftime, Memorial closed it to a point going into the final 10 minutes. Jodick Moudiandambu was perfect in the fourth as he was 3-for-3 from the field and 3-for-3 from the foul line for 10 of his 12 points in the game. Nicholas Tuff led all Memorial shooters with 17 points, while Glex Cox led all scorers in the game with 26 points for Acadia.

Saturday, Josh Reimer hit the game-winning three-pointer, leaving just 0.1 of a second on the clock as the Sea-Hawks topped the Axemen 89-86 to sweep the weekend in Wolfville. Reimer finished with 12 points off the bench for Memorial, while pulling in six rebounds. Leading the Sea-Hawks offence was Nicholas Tuff with 23 points. Flynn Boardman-Raffet had back-to-back big games for Memorial, finishing Saturday night with 17 points and eight rebounds. Glen Cox had a game-high 23, with seven boards, while Thomas MacDonald finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

The StFX X-Men snapped a three-game losing skid with a 74-62 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers on Coach K Court Friday night. Deon Ejim earned player of the game honours in scoring a game-high 23 points for the X-Men. He rounded out a double-double night with 14 rebounds and also had 3 assists, 3 steals and a block. Dondre Reddick netted 18 points for X and contributed 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, while Gatluak James scored 12 and hauled in 7 rebounds. On the other side, Samuel Maillet was the Tigers' player of the game as he led his squad with 16 points on the night and had 4 rebounds, 5 assists and a pair of steals. 

The Tigers bounced back Sunday afternoon, as they edged the UPEI Panthers 88-85 at the Dalplex. Malcolm Christie led the Tigers with 27 points, adding four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block, while Nginyu Ngala finished with 21 points, four rebounds, three assists, four steals and a block in the win. For the Panthers, Jace Colley had a game-high 29 points, while Kamari Scott finished with 17 points, five rebounds, one steal and a block. 

Saint Mary's guard Jayrell Diggs scored 10 of his team-high 17 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning put-back layup, as the Huskies came back to defeat the UPEI Panthers 79-75 on Friday night in Charlottetown, PEI. Jonas Maerz connected on 5-of-8 triples for 15 points in the win, while Jackson Enyinna finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Former Huskie Jace Colley led the Panthers in the loss with a game-high 22 points with nine rebounds and two blocks.

The Cape Breton Capers defeated the visiting UNB Reds 87-66 Saturday afternoon in Sydney. Shakael Pryce and Tyson Cato led the Capers with a game-high 19 points apiece, while each collecting seven rebounds. Pryce also added three assists. Justus Peuser also hit double figures for the home team, with 12, while chipping in six assists and four rebounds. Norm Burry led the Reds, with 17, while Marcus Barnes fashioned a double-double – 13 points and 10 rebounds.
