OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Name: O’Shea Ho-Sang
University: Bishop’s University
Position: Running Back
Hometown: Lasalle, Que.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: Social Science
Height and Weight: 6’0, 210 lbs.
Bishop’s Gaiters running back O’Shea Ho-Sang is the Atlantic University Sport Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, 2024.
Ho-Sang led his Gaiters to a thrilling 42-37 double overtime victory over the STFX X-Men this past weekend – rushing for 145 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns. His second score of the game gave the Gaiters the win in double OT.
The product of Lasalle, Que., also caught four passes for 26 yards.
Ho-Sang’s Gaiters will have a bye this week but return to the field on Oct. 19 against the host Acadia Axemen.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Name: Zachary Chiarotto
University: Saint Mary’s University
Position: Linebacker
Hometown: Winnipeg, Man.
Year of eligibility: Fourth
Academic program: Commerce
Height and weight: 6’0, 220 lbs.
Saint Mary’s Huskies linebacker Zachary Chiarotto is the Atlantic University Sport Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, 2024.
Chiarotto, a Commerce student, anchored a stingy Huskies defense this past weekend in their 27-5 win over the Acadia Axemen.
He finished the contest with 10 tackles, including two tackles for a loss and one forced fumble.
Chiarotto sits tied for second in the AUS in combined tackles with 40.
The Huskies will host the Mount Allison Mounties this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ADT.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Name: Xavier Gervais
University: Bishop’s University
Position: Kicker
Hometown: Ottawa, Ont.
Year of eligibility: Fifth
Academic program: Sports Studies
Height and weight: 6’1, 205 lbs.
Bishop’s University kicker Xavier Gervais is the Atlantic University Sport Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6. 2024.
Gervais assisted his Gaiters in their 42-37 double overtime victory over STFX this past weekend, kicking a pair of field goals (27 and 15 yards) and two extra point attempts.
The Sports Studies student from Ottawa also punted four times for an average of 34.2 yard and four kickoffs for an average of 58.8 yards.
The Gaiters will have a bye this week but return to the field on Oct. 19 against the host Acadia Axemen.
