Week 12 AUS Football Players of the Week: Wright, Recker and George honoured

(HALIFAX, N.S.) Running back Dale Wright, defensive lineman Anderson Recker and kicker Ben George, all from the Acadia Axemen, have been selected as the Week 12 AUS football players of the week for their respective performances this past weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week
Name: Dale Wright
University: Acadia University
Position: Running back
Hometown: Markham, Ont.
Year of eligibility: Third
Academic program: BBA
Height and weight: 5'6", 195 lbs

Acadia Axemen running back Dale Wright is the Atlantic University Sport football offensive player of the week for the week ending Nov. 10, 2019.

A business student in his third year of eligibility from Markham, Ont., Wright was named championship MVP of the Subway AUS Loney Bowl, presented by Keep It Social, Saturday in Wolfville, N.S.

He finished with 118 rushing yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns in Acadia's 31-1 win over the Bishop's Gaiters to capture the conference title.

With the win, the Axemen advance to host the Montreal Carabins in the U SPORTS Uteck Bowl this Saturday, Nov. 16 in Wolfville.

Acadia Axemen defensive lineman Anderson Recker has been named the AUS football defensive player of the week.

A second-year business student from Stillwater Lake, N.S., Recker had two sacks in Acadia's 31-1 win over Bishop's in the conference final Saturday.

He had 3.5 total tackles in the win (three solo and one assisted).

Hometown: Moncton, N.B.
Year of eligibility: First
Academic program: BKin
Height and weight: 5'9", 175 lbs

Acadia Axemen kicker Ben George is the AUS football special teams player of the week for the week ending Nov. 10, 2019.

A freshman kinesiology student from Moncton, N.B., George was successful on two of three field goal attempts and all three point-after attempts for nine points in the Axemen's championship win Saturday.

He had eight punts for 290 yards—including four downed inside the 20—along with four kickoffs for 180 yards.
