Memorial men, STFX women advance to finals of 2025 AUS Curling Championship
(HALIFAX, N.S.) The third day of the 2025 AUS Curling Championships saw round-robin play completed over draws #6 and #7 on Saturday at the historic Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax, N.S.
On the Men’s side, the Memorial Sea-Hawks finished a top the table with a 4-1 record, clinching a bye to Sunday’s final at 1 p.m. The Sea-Hawks will face either the UNB REDS (4-1) or UPEI Panthers (3-2), who face-off in a semifinal at 9 a.m. Sunday. The Dalhousie Tigers (3-2), Saint Mary’s Huskies (1-4) and STFX X-Men (0-5) have all been eliminated from title contention.
On the Women’s side, the STFX X-Women (3-1) finished a top the table with a 3-1 record, clinching a bye to Sunday’s final at 1 p.m. The X-Women will face either the Dalhousie Tigers (3-1) or UNB REDS (3-1), who face-off in a semifinal at 9 a.m. Sunday. The Mount Allison Mounties (1-3) and Saint Mary’s Huskies (0-4) have been eliminated from title contention.

Women’s
STFX vs. UNB
Final Score: 7-6 UNB (8 Ends)
The defending champion UNB REDS improved to 3-0 in round-robin play with a 7-6 win over the STFX X-Women (3-1). After a scoreless first end, the REDS scored two points in the second to open up a slight lead. STFX answered with a single point in the third, but the REDS added to their lead by stealing one point in the fourth and adding three in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead. The X-Women cut into the lead with three points in the sixth and two in the eighth, but the REDS hung on for a 7-6 win.
DAL vs. SMU
Final Score: 10-4 DAL (6 Ends)
The Dalhousie Tigers improved to 2-1 in round-robin play with a 10-4 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies (0-3). Dalhousie started strong with a six point first end, and added two points in each of the third and fifth ends. The Huskies were able to steal points in the second, fourth and sixth ends, but came up short, conceding after the sixth with the Tigers taking the 10-4 win.
Men’s
STFX vs. UNB
Final Score: 7-2 UNB (7 Ends)
The UNB REDS improved to 3-1 in round-robin play with a 7-2 win over the STFX X-Men (0-4). UNB opened up a 2-0 lead in the first end, and added single points in the third and fifth. The X-Men cut into the lead by stealing points in the fourth and sixth ends, but the REDS put a stop to the comeback effort by stealing three points in the seventh, with the X-Men conceding the 7-2 victory.
MUN vs. UPEI
Final Score: 11-0 UPEI (5 Ends)
The Memorial Sea-Hawks improved to 3-1 in round-robin play with a 11-0 win over the UPEI Panthers (2-2). It was an impressive performance by the Sea-Hawks, as they scored in each of the first five ends, leading the Panthers to concede after the fifth.
DAL vs. SMU
Final Score: 10-2 DAL (6 Ends)
The defending champion Dalhousie Tigers improved to 3-1 in round-robin play with a 10-2 win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies (1-3). Dalhousie scored two in the first end, but the Huskies responded with single points in the third and fifth end to cut the lead to 3-2. The Tigers exploded to steal seven points in the sixth, leading the Huskies to concede the 10-2 Tigers win.

Women’s
UNB vs. DAL
Final Score: 6-5 DAL (8 Ends)
The Dalhousie Tigers improved to 3-1 in round-robin play, handing the defending champion UNB REDS (3-1) their first loss by a score of 6-5. It was a back-and-forth match-up, with several ties. The Tigers scored two points in the sixth end to take a 4-3 advantage, but the REDS retook the lead by stealing two in the seventh, before the Tigers scored a single point to win it in the eighth end.
SMU vs. MTA
Final Score: 8-7 MTA (8 Ends)
The Mount Allison Mounties (1-3) won their first match of the tournament, with a 8-7 comeback win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies (0-4). The Huskies scored three points in the first end, but the Mounties tied it up in the fourth and took a 5-3 lead with two points in the fifth end. The Huskies answered with two points in each of the sixth and seventh to take a 7-5 lead, but the Mounties stole three points in the eighth to take the win 8-7.
Men’s
DAL vs. UNB
Final Score: 6-3 UNB (8 Ends)
The UNB REDS finished round-robin play with a 4-1 record, defeating the Dalhousie Tigers (3-2) by a score of 6-3. After a scoreless first end, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the second. The REDS responded by stealing three points in the third. Dal scored single points in the fourth and sixth, but the REDS held on to the lead by scoring single points in each of the fifth, seventh and eighth to secure a 6-3 win.
STFX vs. UPEI
Final Score: 5-2 UPEI (7 Ends)
The UPEI Panthers finished round-robin play with a 3-2 record, defeating the STFX X-Men (0-5) by a score of 5-2. The Panthers took an early lead, going up 4-0 after three ends. STFX scored a single point in the fifth and sixth ends, but the Panthers added one in the seventh, with the X-Men conceding after seven ends for the 5-2 UPEI win.
SMU vs. MUN
Final Score: 5-4 MUN (8 Ends)
The Memorial Sea-Hawks finished round-robin play with a 4-1 record, defeating the Saint Mary’s Huskies (1-4) by a score of 5-4. The Sea-Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first end, but the Huskies responded by scoring single points in the second and third. Memorial scored a single point in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth to open up a 4-2 lead, but Saint Mary’s stole two points in the seventh to tie it at 4-4. The Sea-Hawks scored a single point in the eighth to take the 5-4 win.
The semifinals of the 2025 AUS Curling Championships will be played at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, with the two winners going on to meet at the final at 1 p.m. You can catch the action live on AUSTV.ca
