After a quiet start to the game the teams exploded for 4 goals in the final 4 minutes of the 1st period to leave the teams tied at 2 after 2 periods.
The Mounties struck first when captain Heather Richards scored on the power play at 16:02. Less than a minute later UPEI tied the game at 1 when Faith Stevens scored at 16:48.
Less than 2 minutes later the Mounties took their 2nd lead of the night when Maddy Koughan scored at 18:05. EmmaRae Murphy and Abbie Wisener picked up assists on the play.
For the 2nd time in a row, however, the Panthers answered back with a goal less than a minute after the Mounties scored. This time Kelly Clements scored at 19:32 to knot the game at 2.
UPEI took control of the game in the 2nd period, putting 3 unanswered goals on the scoresheet. Tyler Way gave the Panthers their first lead of the night at 11:17. Jolena Gillard scored on the power play at 13:53 to run the score to 4-2. The Panthers rounded out the scoring when Samantha Mintz scored at 16:15 of the 2nd.
Kaitlin Mowbray made 24 saves on 29 shots for the Mounties before freshman Bianca Zak took over in goal. Zak saved all 7 shots she faced. Camille Scherger made 20 saves on 22 shots for the Panthers.
