Axewomen sweep Sea-Hawks in final regular season weekend

ST. JOHN'S – The Acadia Axewomen topped the Memorial Sea-Hawks 2-1 on Saturday for identical results and a weekend sweep heading into the AUS championship.

Acadia had locked up third place on Friday night, making Saturday's game insignificant for placement purposes.

Alli Kelly opened the scoring in the 32nd minute of the match, while Leah Adams extended the lead in the 62nd minute.

Trinity Coito cut into the Axewomen lead in the 82nd minute, but that is as close as they would get.

Isabella Barieri made seven saves in the win, while Shannon Galway made four in the loss.

Acadia will now face Saint Mary's in their quarter-final match on Thursday, with Dalhousie facing Memorial. The winners will face StFX or Cape Breton in the AUS semifinals on Friday.
