UNB's Katie Butts and Saint Mary's Eliel Nsoseme named AUS Athletes of the Week

(HALIFAX, N.S.) UNB REDS women's basketball forward Katie Butts and Saint Mary's Huskies men's basketball forward Eliel Nsoseme have earned AUS Athlete of the Week honours following their performances this past week.

Katie Butts from the UNB REDS women’s basketball team is the Atlantic University Sport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 2, 2025.

A fourth-year forward from Ottawa, Ont., Butts led the REDS to a weekend sweep of the Memorial Sea-Hawks at home in Fredericton.

In Friday’s 93-78 win, she led all scorers with 27 points and added a team-high nine rebounds, to go along with two assists.

Saturday, the REDS topped the Sea-Hawks 81-70. Butts was named Player of the Game in the win after managing an impressive double-double with a game-high 36 points and 14 rebounds. She also added five assists and three blocks in the win.

Eliel Nsoseme from the Saint Mary’s Huskies men’s basketball team is the Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 2, 2025.

A fifth-year forward from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nsoseme played a pivotal part in the Huskies’ 83-76 win over the Cape Breton CAPERS Saturday in Halifax.

He was named player of the game after finishing with a double-double of 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. He also added an impressive five blocks in the win.
