Université de Moncton cross country runner Sophie Black is the Atlantic University Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22, 2024.
Black, a Nutrition student, captured her second cross country individual title of the season this past weekend at the STFX Invitational held Sept. 21 in Antigonish, NS.
The product of Dieppe, NB, finished the 8-kilometre race in a time of 31:00 – shaving 47 seconds off the time she ran in the season’s opening race Sept. 7 at the Acadia Invitational.
Black and her Moncton teammates will host the next AUS cross country event on Oct. 5 – the last event before the AUS Championships on Oct. 26 and hosted by Memorial University.

La coureuse de cross-country de l'Université de Moncton, Sophie Black, est l'athlète féminine de la semaine de Sport universitaire de l'Atlantique pour la semaine se terminant le 22 septembre 2024.
Black, étudiante en nutrition, a remporté son deuxième titre individuel de la saison en cross-country le week-end dernier lors de la rencontre invitation à STFX qui s'est déroulée le 21 septembre à Antigonish, en Nouvelle-Écosse.
La jeune femme de Dieppe, N.-B., a terminé la course de 8 kilomètres dans un temps de 31:00 - réduisant de 47 secondes le temps qu'il lui avait fallu pour courir lors de la première course de la saison, le 7 septembre, à la rencontre invitation à Acadia.
Black et ses coéquipières de Moncton accueilleront la prochaine rencontre de cross-country de SUA le 5 octobre - le dernier événement avant les Championnats de SUA qui auront lieu le 26 octobre et qui seront organisés par l'Université Memorial.

Dalhousie Tigers cross country runner Jacob Benoit is the Atlantic University Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22, 2024.
Benoit, a fourth-year runner from Windsor, NS, captured the men’s individual title in the 8-kilometre race that took place at the STFX Invitational this past weekend. Benoit crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 25:04.
The win is Benoit’s second of the season – the first coming at the Acadia Invitational on Sept. 7 where he recorded a time of 26:54.
Atlantic University Sport’s next cross country event will come on Oct. 5 when the Université de Moncton will host. Following that, the AUS Cross Country Championships will be hosted on Oct. 26 by Memorial University.
