Juliette Matsukubo of the Acadia University women’s rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport women’s athlete of the week for the week ending October 2, 2022.

Matsukubo scored the three opening tries in Acadia's decisive 58-21 win over the visiting Saint Mary’s Huskies last weekend. A second-year scrum-half from Ottawa, Ontario, she currently leads the AUS in tries, with six, and sits second in scoring.

Next up, Matsukubo and the Axewomen (2-1) face the UPEI Panthers (2-1) on Friday at home.

Mohamed Lamine Touré of the Université de Moncton men’s soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending October 2, 2022.

A first-year forward from Moncton, New Brunswick, Touré helped to lead the Aigles Bleus’ 2-0 shutout victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies on Sunday. He was a standout for his team both defensively and in transition, and scored both goals against the higher-ranked Huskies.

This weekend, Touré and the Aigles Bleus head to Halifax to face the Huskies again, as well as the Dalhousie Tigers.
