UPEI’s Duffy and STFX’s Cordeiro named Subway AUS Athletes of the Week

Emily Duffy of the UPEI Panthers women’s rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport women’s athlete of the week for the week ending September 11, 2022.

A fourth-year science student from Saint John, New Brunswick, Duffy overpowered the STFX defence as the Panthers upset the defending AUS champions and U SPORTS eighth-ranked X-Women with a score of 32-5. She had a game-high two tries in the win and was named the Subway player of the game for her dominant offense.

Next, Duffy and the Panthers host the Acadia Axewomen on Saturday, September 17 at 2 p.m.

Kyle Cordeiro of the STFX X-Men men’s soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending September 11, 2022.

A third-year business student from Oakville, Ontario, Cordeiro had two goals and one assist in the X-Men’s two shutout victories over the weekend and was instrumental in the team’s early season success. In STFX’s 2-0 win over Acadia on Friday night, Cordeiro scored both X-Men goals and was named the Subway player of the game; On Sunday, he added an assist to a 3-0 victory over UPEI.

This weekend, STFX looks to continue their winning streak when they visit Mount Allison University on Saturday and UPEI on Sunday.
