Huskies top Capers 3-0, grab share of second place

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Cape Breton Capers 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Atlantic University Sport Women's Volleyball action from the Homburg Centre in Halifax. 

With the win the Huskies registered their fifth consecutive victory and move into a second place tie with Moncton in AUS Standings.

Subway Player of the Game Ariel Smith (5th year, Yarmouth, N.S.) registered twelve kills, three aces, five digs to lead the Huskies (5-6) to their fifth consecutive victory.

Nicolle McCulloch (3rd year, Shubenacadie, N.S.) added eight kills and Jane Pegg (Weyburn, SK) had thirty-three assists for the Huskies who moved into a second place tie with Moncton.

Katelyn Costa (2nd year, Oakbank, Man.) had six kills, four assists, and five digs while Tresyre Stevenson (1st year, Surrey, B.C.) tallied sixteen assists and five digs for the Capers (0-11).

The Huskies next home game will be Saturday, January 19th when the UNB Varsity Reds visit the Homburg Centre in a battle of the last two AUS champions. Game time is 2:00 and the game can be seen live via webcast at Huskies TV (http://live.streamit.ca/?player=49).
