Reds and Aigles Bleus earn sweeps to continue winning streaks

In Week 3 of the AUS men's hockey season, the UNB Reds earned their sixth-straight win to remain undefeated, while the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus played to their fourth-straight win.

The U Sports No.1 ranked Reds started their weekend in Wolfville, where they blanked the Acadia Axemen 5-0 Friday night. Brady Gilmour, Austen Keating (PP), Jason Willms (SH), Justin Nolet and Isaac Nurse all recorded tallies in the win, while Samuel Richard made 20 saves in the net for the shutout victory.

The Reds then scored three unanswered goals Saturday night en route to a 3-2 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies Saturday night. Isaac Nurse (SH), Kade Landry (PP) and Cody Morgan (PP) scored for UNB in the win, while Saint Mary's goals came from Reid Valade and Ben Higgins.

Moncton forward Nathael Roy scored two goals and an assist, helping lead the Aigles Bleus to a 5-2 win over the Huskies Friday night. Alexandre Couture, Edouard St-Laurent (PP) and Jérémy Michel (PP) also found the back of the net in the win, while Bradey Johnson and Thomas Casey recorded tallies for Saint Mary's in the loss.

The Aigles Bleus then edged the Axemen 3-1 Saturday night. Jeremy Lapointe opened the scoring for Moncton, with Yann-Felix Lapointe and Thomas Pelletier adding tallies as well. Acadia's lone goal came from Bailey Peach.

The Dalhousie Tigers hosted the StFX X-Men in Halifax Wednesday night, where the home team doubled the X-Men 4-2 for their second win of the season. Alec Belanger scored twice in the win, while Jarett Baker and Derek Gentile added tallies for Dalhousie. Josh Nelson and Raegan Wiles scored for StFX in the loss.

The X-Men bounced back Saturday, defeating the UPEI Panthers 6-3 in Charlottetown. Jacob Hudson earned a hattrick for the X-Men, while Brendon Clavelle, Conner Bruggen-Cate and Matthew Struthers all added tallies in the loss. UPEI goals came from Kaleb Pearson (PP), Michael Stubbs and Alexandre De Gagne.

Despite the loss Saturday, the Panthers split their weekend games, earning a massive 10-2 victory over the Tigers. Kaleb Pearson led the way for UPEI with four goals, with teammates Josh Currie, Elias Cohen, Daylon Groulx (2), Ben McFarlane and Chase Lammi adding tallies in the win. Dalhousie goals in the loss came from Shaun Miller and Derek Gentile.
